    Upgrading

It wasn’t until I started playing around with my other domains this week that I realised I really need to upgrade my Wordpress here so am about to do so. Consider this warning/explanation for any site chaos in the next few days!!

    I’m alive!

It seems the longer you leave your blog without updating the more people seem to follow you. Weird. Perhaps they just think something terribly exciting or dramatic might have happened to keep me from posting. Well, I hate to break it to you but I’m not pregnant, dying or eloping with a Arabian prince. I’m just a terribly busy, easily distracted, lazy cow.

In all seriousness, if you want to see how undramatic life is with Miss Crafty, just follow my mundane Twitters.

Craftwise I have unearthed all the Christmas supplies I never got round to using in time last year and am determined to actually put them to use this year (if only to decorate my own place) but also think that given my track record with such things I should maybe decide to start on Easter decorations instead! :)

The advent calendar I made Him Indoors a couple of years ago has been looked out and we have begun the frustrating task of trying to find each other gifts small enough to fit in its various pockets (all suggestions welcome!)

I also realise I promised a giveaway a couple of posts ago. I haven’t forgotten. I just wanted to include a piccie of the prize and, given I leave in the dark and return in the dark during the week, I’ve not had good photo light when I’m free in weeks.

The ‘Pottering Room’ looks great with our new storage unit but also have to confess somewhat overwhelming to see so much supplies and half-finished projects to tackle. With the craft side of things finally looking a bit more efficient I am giving my old laptop an MOT and should hopefully get it sorted soon.

    Newbee shop option

    E-Hive Online Stores

There’s no doubting that Etsy is the daddy of online options to buy and sell hand-crafted goods but recently Europe and the UK have presented us with a host of new options. The latest of these is My Ehive.

I haven’t had much of a chance to give it a decent testing but on first glance it seems to have all the features you’d need plus a couple of nice extra touches. I’ll let you know how I get on.

    Shop till you drop

One of my aims for 2008 was to get myself going on the online shop front and, while I’ve still to finish getting some stock together and listed, I have started a store at both Folksy and Etsy.

In a great piece of fortunate timing The Storque at Etsy just recently published a wonderful How To guide to Selling. Great for beginners like me or old hands looking to bump up their sales.

    The best made plans..

Last month I promised myself to try and update the site every day. I didn’t do too badly but didn’t hit the target either. It seems that a few crafty bloggers are going to try and do this for October in the guise of Blogtoberfest, the problem being that I only read about this in my reader today, the 2nd day into it, and didn’t post yesterday. Gah! Still, I think it’s still the 1st somewhere in the world….. ;) Let’s give it a shot.

I’m going through a massive site/life/career overhaul and while I’m gearing up for getting the site back on track you can get regular updates (albeit the bitesize variety) by following me on Twitter (see sidebar).

    Boosting your creativity…

You may have noticed the site is getting a glut of updates tonight. There’s many reasons for it. I know you love lists so here’s a few reasons:

    • Him Indoors has just left for the airport (the second last time he will ever do this as he is coming home for good at the end of the month) after being here all week and helping me out around the place. I had forgot what it’s like not to have to tidy the entire place myself and not spend all my time doing chores. Yeah, I’m a modern day Cinderella so I am!
    • I have the TITP coverage on in the background, which is forcing me to try and distract myself from wishing I was knee-deep in plastic pint glasses while a sweaty pale scotsman rubs his sweaty back against my face as he leaps up and down (most likely on my toes). I need to remind myself that things like that are the reality and the bands I’m pining about missing will sound much better from here on the comfort of my couch.
    • I desperately want to get back in the habit of keeping the site updated regularly.
    • I’m trawling through old bookmarks and magazines and notebooks of things I wanted to make/see/try so thought I’d share a few.

A site I find particularly useful for helping me try and plan things out and get my thoughts in order is LifeDev and I was just looking through their great piece on 19 Online Destinations for Boosting Creativity when I got to thinking – what do you find useful for boosting your creativity? A great soundtrack, a new pen, a clear desk, a great website… leave me a comment and let me know!

    Pile Up

Before I tackle the most ridiculous pile of posts and tasks I just wanted to do a simple post to say I’m acutely aware that post-Paris things have taken a distinct slide on the site.

I *know* that the site only seems to get the odd event and Theme Thursdays and little else but I have excuses (shouldn’t that read ‘reasons’?) folks.

The lack of photos on here is because I can’t find my damn USB cable and the reason I can’t find my cable is because my craft room currently resembles a garage as the bathroom is still being renovated so the craft room is full of sawdust, grout, tiles and towel rails.

The reason I haven’t posted about my Sampler goodies is because I wanted to include a pic. The reason I haven’t posted a COTW in a while is because I was waiting on responses and now I have a couple ready to start putting up (just in time for busy weekend with Him Indoors. Argh.).

OK, listing all this is not getting any of the above done (and I have to make an apron for a swap deadline due tomorrow!! Eeks). I just wanted to let you know the site is still v important to me and, if you stick around, I’ll try my best to make things up to you – it’s a new month after all!

    Grease lightening

The week is whipping by so fast that it’s already Thursday again and I’ve not updated all week. Me bad.

I’ll get today’s Theme Thursday up later but before then I get to indulge the crafty Bridezilla in me by going to the jewellers tonight to discuss designs for the engagement ring. Yup, I’m going bespoke ladies.

Him Indoors also bagged us a nice little refund on the sofa debacle and even got us some upholstery fabric thrown in to the bargain. Need to brush up on my (non-existent) upholstery skills and make us a matching chair now.

My Jack Long print from Tiny Showcase has arrived and is now sitting forlornly with all the other prints I have waiting to be framed (Asking For Trouble’s recent posts have inspired me to put ‘Get all prints framed and hung’ further up my To Do list). As well as that my package from the Sampler arrived (more details on that tomorrow) at last too! Yay!

Speaking of Asking For Trouble, some of you may have noticed Marceline’s wonderful work here in the shape of our crafty new banner. I have to admit I was a bit worried about the clashing of two crafty minds but it all worked out fine and I’d recommend her skills to any of you looking for a friendly, affordable and professional designer.

    More later peeps.
