I have some vintage pillowcases which I acquired at the weekend. I also bought a job lot of felt squares and offcuts in a variety of colours and thicknesses that I haven’t got around to using in 3 months. You would be welcome to a rummage through both. Well, probably, I don’t know if I’m ready to part with the pillowcases yet. But the felt, knock yourself out!

I see Bron got there before me but I was going to suggest a gardening tool apron as well. You could adapt the craft market apron tutorial on my blog and use something a bit more glam than an Ikea tea towel! Some pretty oilcloth maybe… Another rainy climate person here, too.

How about padded, waterproof knee pads – kind of like skater gear? Oval at front, elastic/velcro round the back. So your recipient can kneel and weed without having to shift the pad about or get soggy knees. Unless, of course, your swapee is in california or some other ridiculously sunny place as opposed to sodden glasgow… You could do a matchy matchy tool apron as well for dibber and twine and gloves and stuff.

actually, thinking about it, I could do with both of those myself

What about making a gardening journal so that your person can write when they plant things, outcomes etc, and when’s the best time to plant etc. Or those little things you put in soil to note where each plant is.. I can’t remember their names!!

Wow. I’ve just been to see all your flickr photos – WOW! How exciting. I am amazed, so many great parts of your new home to discover. While it’s probably not nearly as exciting as it is actually BEING THERE and living it, it’s sooo fantastic to come along for the ride. WOW! That front door is romance!

Oh WOW! That is an incredible, fabulous and fantastic story! How thrilling!! The key in itself is gorgeous, and to know it’s attached to a home is even more exciting. It sounds amazing. The ceiling and lights are beautiful. I’d soooo love to see what the man left behind, I love a good bonus ‘gift with purchase’!
