It’s a date
So, it’s no great secret that Miss Crafty enjoys getting her craft on but what makes this infinitely more enjoyable is if it’s in the name of saving money. Yes, Miss Crafty is also Miss Frugal and hates nothing more than having to spend more than necessary on something she needs, so, if possible, she combines them both and makes something.

As we’ve discussed before, She’s Crafty HQ is littered with calendars in an attempt to co-ordinate the distance thing with Him Indoors as we have to plan our time months in advance. Enter my search for a nice (cheap) pocket diary I hang on to my 2007 one (last year’s freebie with a mag) until it runs out and then hope by this time in January the 2008 ones are in the sale.

Borders had a choice of Elvis, Liverpool FC or Arsenal FC ones. WHSmith had loads but they were still at full price so I got my crafty head on and headed for the Pound Shop. For one whole buck I managed to find a chunky day-to-a-page one with nice pink pages (though said pages did feature some spooky kitties). Unfortunately the cover also featured spooky kitties with bug-eyes and sparkly bits.
I decided that I’d just buy it and cover it myself at home. I’d first thought I’d just use some old card stock I have but then I remembered I had a nice scrap of Michael Miller fabric (this particular one is called Flashback) that would go well with the pink pages.

Add the helping hand in the shape of some kirbys and hair clips and you have a very nice diary for a fraction of the cost of anything similar in the shops and the kitties do make me laugh whenever I open it. I was considering adding 2008 in pink felt on the front but somehow it looked a little too busy on such a small book. What would you suggest/add/change?
